Visit Defraeye-Sercu cycling track

Visits are possible in Dutch, French and English.

This velodrome was built by local legend and first Belgian Tour de France winner Odiel Defraeye in 1912. It’s where track star Patrick Sercu got his start – and where living legends like Briek Schotte, Rik Van Steenbergen and Marcel Kint once raced the oval.

A brief history

After WWI, Defraeye founded a velodrome in Rumbeke. In the 60s, it was brought back to life by Patrick Sercu’s father Albert and a group of passionate fans. In 2011, cycling enthusiast and developer Marc Demeulenaere gave it a final makeover. To this day, it remains a magnet for young cycling talent, die-hard fans, race organisers and curious visitors.
