Rumbeke Castle
Rumbeke Castle
Rumbeke Castle is one of the oldest Renaissance castles in Belgium, dating back to the 16th century. The history of the estate reaches even further back: all the way to the 9th century, the time of Baldwin Iron Arm, the very first count of Flanders. You could say the cradle of Flanders lies here in Rumbeke. Nowadays, the castle is surrounded by a park known as ‘Sterrebos’ (‘Star Forest’) – named after the star-shaped layout of the paths that wind through centuries-old trees.
The castle sits in the Provincial domain Sterrebos, a wonderful place for walking and playing.
